Oriental Healing Massage, located at 1126 N Fielder Rd, in Arlington, TX specializes in Asian massage modalities. Asian Massage refers to massage therapy that originated in Asia. Mostly originating in China, India, Japan, or Thailand, Asia massage differs from Western Massage in a few key ways. Western massage modalities like Swedish Massage, Deep Tissue Massage, Myofascial Release Massage, and Trigger Point Therapy’s main purpose is to relieve tense muscles and promote circulation and overall relaxation. Asian massage including Zhi Ya, Tui Na, Shiatsu, Ayurvedic, and Thai Yoga takes a more holistic approach, balancing the body.

Many Asian massages center on the underlying principle that life forms like physiological aspects and vital energy. Vital energy is variously referred to as Qi, Chi, and Yin & Yang (in Japan and China); as Pranas or Chakras (in India); or as rūḥ and ruah (in Arab regions). For a healthy existence, this inherent vital energy should be free-flowing and balanced. Various external factors, such as mental anxiety or poor diet, adversely affect your vital energy and this can consequentially lead to weakened health and unhappiness. Appropriately performed massage, along meridian lines helps restore the correct balance and flow of vital energy. Good health is achieved from regular Asian massage.

Zhi Ya– is based on acupressure. The massage therapist pinches and presses acupuncture points on the body connecting to nerves in the meridian system to bring the client into balance.

Tui Na– is similar to Western massage, using kneading, pushing, pulling, and stretching of muscles. The difference from Western massage techniques is Tui Na’s end goal is to relieve tension over a larger space of the body by focusing on the entire muscle.

Back Walking Massage, also known as Ashiatsu (meaning foot pressure) -This modality has the Massage Therapist “walking or stepping” on the client’s back to give the massage. The bodyweight of the therapist produces the deepest tissue massage while the toes point on the acupuncture points of the meridian to achieve overall relaxation and well-being, with the most possibility to pop your back. Oriental Healing Massage has a special treatment room with bars that the therapist holds to balance and adjust for the optimal pressure for our clients.

Ashiatsu can be performed as Wet (with massage oil and bare feet) or Dry (with sheets or towel). Oriental Healing Massage mainly gives Dry Ashiatsu combined with stretches and myofascial release in order to help release adhesions and tension deep within the body. Most clients feel a lot freer and looser after one session.

Thai Yoga massage is a kind of yoga stretch, but passively stretched by the massage therapist. The goal of Thai Yoga Massage to improve your range of motion, relaxation, pain relief, and quieting the mind. It’s a combination of the best of massage and the best of yoga.

Cupping (Decompression) Therapy– Cupping creates a vacuum, a mild suction of the skin up into the cups, with the massage oil gliding, creating a massage-type effect. The idea is that the resulting movement of blood helps to release built-up muscle tension and reduce aches and pains while increasing blood flow, relaxation, and well-being. Cupping really promotes blood circulation. It is believed that cupping therapy can remove harmful substances and toxins from the body to promote healing. Oriental Healing Massage conducts cupping therapy with gliding that won’t leave circle marks and we combine this with a hand massage.

Foot Reflexology– Your feet have zones that directly correspond to your body’s various vital organs. Correctly applied pressure to a targeted zone can help to clear vital energy blockages in the corresponding organs. Oriental Healing Massage uses warm Chinese herb water, soaking your feet first. Then the therapist will knead the soft fleshy ball of the foot, pulling on the toes, tracing around the heel, and pushing deep into the arch are just a few of the movements you’ll experience during treatment. If sensitivity or tenderness is experienced when an area is stimulated, it usually indicates bodily weaknesses or imbalances within the corresponding organ.

With repeated pressure and manipulation of nerve endings, reflexology can help to clear any channels of blocked energy. With blockages cleared and blood-flow increased, your organs will function better and you will feel healthier and more balanced.
